DCLG Seminar: Henry Overman - Local Economic Growth - after 3 years of What Works Centre analysis, what works and what's next?

In this Economic and Social Research seminar, join Henry Overman, Director of the Local Economic Growth What Works Centre, who will discuss what works in driving local economic growth, based on the work of the Centre over the past few years, and offer reflections on what might happen next to improve local economic policy.

Henry is Professor of Economic Geography in the department of Geography and Environment at the London School of Economics. From 2008 to 2013 he directed the BIS/ESRC/WG funded Spatial Economics Research Centre. He is currently Director of the What Works Centre for Local Economic Growth.

Henry’s current research interests include the causes and consequences of spatial disparities and the impact of urban and regional policy. His research has been published in leading economics journals (The Review of Economics Studies and The Quarterly Journal of Economics) and leading economic geography journals (Environment and Planning and Journal of Economic Geography). He continues to publish in journals from both disciplines as well as editing the inter-disciplinary Journal of Economic Geography.
